Queensland flood

Queensland, Australia experienced a very bad flood. Two people I know live there, but they are fortunately safe. One of them lives in an area that wasn't badly flooded while another lived in an area that was flooded badly, but they're now staying in another area.

Ten people have been confirmed dead, but it's likely to increase. 78 people are still unaccounted for.

If anybody would care to donate money for disaster relief, here's the link. I know most of my journal friends live in the U.S. even if they're not American. The website does not have PayPal, but uses credit/debit card companies. The donation is in Australia dollars.

I wish I had realized it was in Australian dollars before I donated. I thought it was like the few others sites I've used that where the site used the user's currency of their current location and then converted it later to the currency of the website's origin country. Now I feel like a cheapskate since I thought the exchange rate was higher between USD and AUD...

On an utterly unrelated note, I have a song stuck in my head. Matt introduced me to it in 2009, and I got him the CD as part of my Christmas gift to him. It's Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead" from their Chunk of Change CD. A year later, I finally ripped the CD on my iTunes (this past weekend) but it seems I halted it too early. I didn't rip the last song which was, of course, "Sleepyhead." I've been playing it on repeat on YouTube. (The video is somewhat random - it's a spinning 4-sided cube thing with the singer's face and him singing along and bright neon lights whirling around.) It's electronica/electropop and the singer's voice in this song is quite high-pitched. I think Matt already has their LP album. Mmm, should've asked if I could've ripped that, too. Passion Pit apparently does a lot of remixes, as well. Lady Gaga and Beyonce's "Telephone" remix should be interesting to listen to...

"Begonia" is an interesting sounding word. They look kinda pretty too. I think I would have thought them roses, judging from their Google images. "Begonias" is part of the lyrics for "Sleepyhead" so that tangent wasn't totally random! No, wait, seems like other sites have "go in disguise" instead of "begonia skies." I have no idea what the singer is singing besides the very obvious "sleepyhead," hence the lyrics search.

Mmm... Don't know which is right, but I like the image I get from "begonia skies." :)

I remember when that song came out - it was in my head for months! It was used on a playstation advert here as well which didn't help!

Seems like the song was "featured in the debut trailer for LittleBigPlanet 2." I'm not familiar with the game, but I sometimes like the songs I hear in other games' trailers.

goddess_amy isn't a mutual friend. One of my friends migrated to tumblr, and the other never was on LJ (we were former schoolmates and girlfriend/boyfriend in my 2nd high school).

Edit: Sorry if my response sounded brusque. I haven't slept all night and I was thinking of info-must-relate. It is frightening, more so because it's so far away. And it's ironic the thing separating the US from Australia is water, that which also floods homes.
