about my self-designed major proposal.

"The IDST committee discussed your proposed self-designed major at its meeting today.  While we found your conceptual rationale to be thoughtful and fairly complete, the committee seeks more information from you regarding possibilities for your final project.  Obviously, framing such projects can be difficult, and one may hesitate in appearing to commit to a project that seems perhaps quite distant. Yet this project is in fact a little more than a year away and plays a central role in your major.  The committee therefore needs to be assured that you can conceptualize of a project that brings the appropriate kind of synthesis to the major, even if in the end it is not the topic that you choose to address.  We look forward to seeing a revised version of your proposal that meets this criteria."

The original section of my proposal about that final project was:
E. At the moment I do not have a final paper or project in mind. My ideas will become more specific as I take classes, particularly Research Methods and Designs. I have an interest in the experiences of synesthetes with their crossed sensory wires, high-functioning autistics/people with Asperger’s Syndrome and the controversy of theory of mind that applies to them, and phantom pain/feeling in amputees, but I am not sure of how these interests will come out later during my major.

Unfortunately I had lost my thumbdrive last week Monday with the final copy of it. I was rushing around like a bum, all that. I emailed her back asking if I could pick up a copy and photocopy it for my own records. How incredibly irresponsible, I know!! Turns out that I had emailed my advisor the version I handed in so she emailed it back to me. I didn't notice because I didn't put the "Cognitive Science" filter on it in GMail. Then after I turned in the changed proposals, the IDST committee chair emailed me back a few hours later telling me I could pick up a copy of my old proposal from her PA. >_> Great timing, Iz. I'll just email her back later and let her know I had found a copy and turned in 5 copies of my revised proposal today.

So, the committee meets Tuesday afternoons. I'm quite apprehensive about tomorrow and Wednesday...whenever she'll email me back with the "results."
